New iPhone launch June 9th

Well, according to Wired and a few other sites, it looks like the 3G iPhone is dropping June 9th. Surely not a coincidence is the fact that Steve Jobs will be giving the "Stevenote" to WWDC attendees the same day. Probably most impressive fact of the launch is that it will be worldwide, with up to 40 countries selling iPhones on the same day. The 3G element alone will be the event that takes the iPhone mainstream, although the iPhone's forthcoming 2.0 software and the accompanying applications surely won't hurt things either. No word on sizes or prices, but $599 for the 32GB, $499 for the 16GB, and $399 for the 8 GB sounds as reasonable as anything I've heard. Now, if I only had some money for the new phone and Apple stock....

Peter Thiel Makes Down Payment on Libertarian Ocean Colonies

Cool article in Wired about Libertarians creating floating countries. If Hillary had become president I suspect these would be in high demand.

How Big A Threat Is Barr? - Real Clear Politics - Elections 2008 - TIME

http://time-blog.com/real_clear_politics/2008/05/how_big_a_threat_is_barr.html

To answer the question posed by the above article: Not much. Libertarians are independent of Republicans. The Libertarian Party doesn't drain conservative votes from the GOP the way Ralph Nader draws liberal votes away from the Democrats. If a conservative doesn't like the candidate the Republicans put up, they stay home. They don't vote Libertarian out of protest. This is what happened in 1996 when Bob Dole ran, and that is what will happen this year with another old Senator on top of the GOP ticket. I predict that the number of votes the Libertarian candidate gets in any state Obama wins will not exceed the margin Obama beats McCain by. Obama has a superior organization, is better funded, is bringing new voters into the voting booth, and oh yeah, he's not 72 years old. Mr. Obama certainly doesn't need the assistance of the Libertarian's .3 percent of the vote to secure the White House.

iPhone camera fixed

As you can see from the picture of Cuddles below, the iPhone camera is indeed working again. Special thanks to all the people on apple's support site for all of the tips. I have to say, I never really thought about how much I used the iPhone as a camera. Indeed, I probably use the iPhone more as a camera then I do as a Phone!

Cuddles!

iPhone Camera fixed!

Wow, I love the Internet. Turns out that A) I am not the only one that has had this issue and B) People have tried damn near everything to solve it. I'm leaning towards this following solution as posted on Apple's site: Short of performing an unsuccessful Restore and wiping all your settings (like I did), simply try this. 1. Disconnect your iPhone from your Mac (have not tried this on Windows) that you use for Syncing. 2. Go to User/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/ and search for this file: f1b43d3b3ecf259a3626c13a8b0cebd8ba513117.mdbackup 2. Delete said file. 3. On your iPhone, go to Settings/General/Reset/Erase All Content and Settings 4. Your camera should again shoot and capture pics, as advertised. Worked for me (while on a beach vacation/friends' wedding trip)! Hope this helps others. OK, I reset it. My iPhone is now completely empty, but it does take pictures. Hopefully, I can now get everything back on it. Mike

iPhone camera still not working

I reset the phone and restored it to no avail. I can't wait to go to the Apple Store and stump the geniuses with this one. This is really grinding my gears because I really don't want to go back to having to use an actual camera. The fact of the matter is that before I owned a cameraphone (the Treo and then the iPhone), I took practically no pictures. Now, I take thousands of pictures a year. I have albums upon albums in my Picassa account of all the good ones, and practically all of them come from cameraphone. Indeed, if it wasn't for the iPhone I wouldn't have had any pictures from my honeymoon. I'll try poking around the internet to see if someone has had the same issue I've had but I'm doubtful. I'll let you know what happens tomorrow.

iPhone camera roll not working!

I just synced all my photos and now, lo and behold, I can't take pictures. I just tried taking a picture of my uncle's kitten and then realized they weren't in the Photos app. I tried taking a few more but no joy. This is the second time I have had trouble with the camera app. The first time I couldn't sync with iPhone, but this is way worse. I've come to depend on the iPhone as my camera so this better get fixed. I'll try resetting to see if that fixes it.

Rush provides Clinton margin of victory in Indiana

Rush Limbaugh's "Operation Chaos" gave Hillary Clinton her 22,000 vote margin of victory over Barack Obama yesterday. Without Rush's intervention, she surely would have lost the state. Operation Chaos is Limbaugh's first extended foray into politics, as he is encouraging disgruntled Republicans to vote for Hillary in an attempt to prolong the race for the Democratic Nomination. His efforts appear to be successful, first giving Clinton a much needed boost in must win Texas, then padded her lead in Pennsylvania's primary six weeks later. Indiana may be Operation Chaos' swan song, however, as Barack Obama racked up a huge win in North Carolina, effectively giving him the nomination.

Cedric Benson must go, Angelo too

Even before his nautical shenanigans, the Bears needed to cut Cedric Benson. Now that the Bears have been gift wrapped an excuse to dump him, they better be smart enough to accept it. It's not about trying to reduce his cap hit, or saving money for redoing Brian Urlacher's contract, it's about cutting losses and getting a cancer out of the locker room. Jerry Angelo, face the facts: Cedeic Benson is a bust of epic, historic proportions. On top of that, you had Thomas Jones traded for effectively nothing, losing your best player from a Super Bowl team. For these crimes against Bears fans everywhere, you should be fired, and if you had any dignity you would resign. Honestly, I don't know how you sleep at night: You resign another bust, Rex Grossman, who single handedly lost the Super Bowl, you lose the only deep threat you have to Minnesota, and for three years you don't draft a quarterback. If Matt Forte doesn't produce, you will have sabotaged the running game for yet another year. For your sake he better be the second coming of Walter Payton. The Bears will be 6-10 at best, and will probably go through three quarterbacks. That's grounds for dismissal for any NFL team, never mind a charter franchise like the Bears.

Panama Jack looking guy at Starbuck's

Blogging from Starbucks

Hello everyone! Blogging from the Frankfort Starbuck's because I had to take advantage of the free that iPhone users get. Plus, I always wanted to order an orange mocca frappuccino, but alas, they only had raspberry. Drat! Still, the wi-fi worked once I gave them my phone number. And I have to say, the raspberry mocca frappuccino was not that bad. I'll post pictures later.
